31
When I hit 30, it was no biggie. Everyone makes a big deal about 30. I never got it. I wasn't sad or filled with woe and agony. I enjoyed turning 30. There were a couple reasons for this...
A) I wasn't going to be a 20 something anymore! Nowadays, most people categorize 20-somethings as older teenagers.
I have never really been known to "act my age." I despised being lumped into the "oh they are just 20-something kids" category.
B) I had a reason to have a birthday party. When you grow up, people think you are a weirdo if you have parties for any birthday other than the 10s. (30, 40, 50, etc.) That stinks. I like to celebrate that I'm still alive.
C) Did I mention I was glad to get away from being called a 20-something? ;o)
Today I turn 31. I am happy that God has blessed me with another year. God has blessed me with an amazing husband, a spirited and gentle hearted son, a family that loves me, and wonderful friends. I get to enjoy life at home with my kiddo everyday. I have never had any major illnesses or diseases besides my infertility. I have the privilege of praising Jesus in a church home that I adore. I truly am very blessed.
I am, however, in a mild state of chagrin. I get the 30 thing now.
When we are younger, we have this picture of what we would like to happen by the time we are 30. 30 is that magic number we think will bring about smooth sailing because we have spent our time in our 20s "figuring it out."
Guess what. Smooth sailing is something that only happens, WHEN YOU ARE SAILING! In life, there is no smooth sailing. Life gets choppy. The wind whips and tosses the waves. The currents shift. There are rogue waves; giant breaks in the water when it seems like the ocean is finally calm.
Unfortunately, I didn't really "figure out" much of what I was supposed to in my 20s. Now that I am going to be really IN my 30s, I feel like there is a lot I let myself down on. There were so many goals and dreams I had that are either no longer plausible or seem so out of reach at the moment. So, I've given myself some time to grieve the loss of a few dreams and goals. Today has not been the greatest day. I woke up feeling all of this and the day went down hill from there. So, I had yesterday and most of the day today to be sad. Now, it stops.
When I started this blog entry, I wasn't sure where I was going with it. In writing it, God has revealed another 31 to me. Proverbs 31. Specifically, Proverbs 31:10-31, The Woman Who Fears the Lord.
This is the woman I long to be deep in my soul. Looking back on all of my lofty goals and ambitions that I wanted to reach by my 30s, well, I can now see that this is what I was really going for. My heart's desire is to be this type of woman. I was just trying to make it happen on my own.
So, here's my plan. I am putting aside the list of things that I want to happen by the time I am 40. It's really out of my control anyway. I have one thing on my list. Be more like the Proverbs 31 woman. Show honor and grace to my husband. Remain faithful. Work hard. Give more. Fear less. Teach kindness and a gentle spirit to my son. Be strong and stand tall in Christ. Laugh more.
I'm certain that this is the only goal worth achieving anyway. All of that other stuff? Well, Christ will open those doors for me when it's time. As far as for now, I think I will make Proverbs 31:25 my focus. "Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come." It's time to start laughing.

A burlap-y breeze!
I love crafting. I love the thrill of taking random supplies and putting them together to make something useful and unique. I have not had a lot of time to craft lately so I was getting antsy. Last night, I couldn't take it any longer! Since I am currently in love with all things burlap, I took about 20 minutes and made a new wreath out of burlap for my front door. Here are the supplies....
The gray tube thing is half the length of a section of pipe insulation I got at Home Depot. The whole thing cost somewhere around $0.90 so cost for this portion is approx. $0.45. (That's math! :) ) Obviously, the duck tape and scissors were just laying around the house so, I count those as free. The burlap was $1.50 for half a yard. My final project cost, around $2.00! My wreath turned out super cute! I added an old rustic ornament to the middle to finish it off. Here is my finished project...

Restless
There is a song stuck in my head. Give it a listen and then come back here to let me tell you why...
Isn't that a great song. Did you catch the words?
"I'm restless till I rest in you."
I don't know about you but, I struggle with being restless. When things in my life aren't going the way I think they should. When my world turns upside down. When I don't have a plan. I try to pick all my worries up, load them into a pack with all my fears, insecurities, and failures and carry them on my back. I try to fix things by myself. I try to come up with my own plans.
Doing this is like packing around a bag full of bowling balls. They weigh me down. They crush me. Still, I try to carry them alone, never asking for help. Eventually they become too much to bear. I become hurt, frustrated that I can't do it alone. I am forced to my knees. In desperation, I cry out for help and repent for not asking sooner.
Wouldn't it be nice to cut out the middle?
Right now, I am restless. There is a lot going on in our lives. My flesh wants to plan, panic, pack up my bowling balls and try to start running. My spirit is craving something different. REST. Rest in Christ. I have to trust His promises for our future, knowing that He will provide for Josh's job changes and our finances. I have to choose to fill my cravings with Him and His word instead of food, facebook, etc. I must lean on His strength when I can't find it in me to want to put in the effort for bettering myself physically and spiritually. When I am at my weakest, I must say,
"Still my heart. Hold me close. Let me hear a still small voice. Let it grow. Let it rise, into a shout, into a cry!"
Jesus is offering to carry my sack full of bowling balls. I just have to let Him. Then, I can rest and trust that He has it all under control for me.

Shiny new gadgets
If any of you out there are paying attention to my blog, you may notice a couple of new things at the top. I have added a couple of tickers to the top of the blog for sharing my progress.
The first ticker is for my overall progress. It shows my starting weight (eep! I had a hard time actually putting that out there in the open!), my current weight, and my goal weight.
The second one is my ticker from www.myfitnesspal.com. On this ticker, I am tracking my mini goal accomplishments. I have set mini goals for each 10 lbs that I lose with a reward at each goal met.
The picture in the background of this ticker is representative of my next reward. I find that seeing that picture each day keeps me motivated and reminds me that my next mini goal is not far away. You will notice that, right now, it is a massage bed. That is because my 20lb reward is a massage. Yay. I am 1.2 annoying pounds away from that goal.
Just in case you are wondering, my 10 lb reward to myself was purple highlights. I love them.

Glad to be Mad
Since I haven't blogged much on my weight loss journey lately, I will give you a quick run down. For the past several months I have been logging calories on a site called www.myfitnesspal.com. It really has been an invaluable asset to me. The site recommends a calorie goal for each day based on my height, weight, and how many pounds I would like to lose per week (1, 1.5, or 2). I have been following the plan for 1 lb per week and have seen consistent loss. This, of course, is not counting the month and a half during the holidays that I decided to sabotage myself. Up until this week, I had not added consistent exercise to the mix. My progress so far is a loss of 18.8 lbs.
This past week, I decided to change my loss goal to 1.5 lbs/wk, which lowered my calorie goal daily. I have stayed below goal each day. I have exercised on a regular basis. I have generally had one of my best weeks of being on target. I weighed in this morning. I gained .4 lbs.
I am mad.
Before I go further, let me say, I think I know what my problem was this week. My sodium intake this week was way too high. My water intake was way too low. Flo is on her way to visit and my anxiety this week has been through the roof because of some stressful life events. I know how all of these factors affect my body personally. Frankly, I'm surprised the scale wasn't much higher.
In the past, I would have gotten discouraged by this stall in loss. I would have said forget it for a day, week, month, 6 months. I would have gone for some deep fried comfort and then followed it up with excessive amounts of sugar coated sugar.
Today, I am mad.
I'm not mad at myself. Am I disappointed that I could have controlled my sodium intake? Sure. I am choosing to learn from that. I am not going to beat myself up for something in the past. I am going to use it to change the future. I'm not mad at circumstances. Flo is a regular part of my life. I will just have to learn to look past her side effects.
I am mad in the sense that, I am fired up. I want to do better. I want to see progress. I want to be serious.
I am glad to be mad because it indicates a change in me. I'm stronger and I didn't even know it. I'm not feeling defeated and depressed as I used to. I'm feeling empowered to do better because I know I can. That's a really new feeling to me. Even through the loss I have had so far, I have not felt this empowered.
Despite the number on the scale, I'm calling this a successful week. God has opened my eyes to the possibility of being something more if I'm willing. That's a pretty good feeling.

Goals that are decidely not resolutions
As any good procrastinator would, I have waited until Jan 4 to start thinking about what my resolutions for the new year should be. That is, if I were the type to make resolutions. I like to think that I'm not that type. In reality, I am. My point really is that I make resolutions but I prefer to call them something else so I don't seem quite so traditionally set up for failure.
Now that I have made that as clear as mud, here is my list of goals that are not resolutions for 2012.
**Get organized.
I really want to work on decluttering our home and lives. This is harder for me than it sounds because of the next one.
**Work on expecting less perfection.
I am a perfectionist who gets hung up on the, "if you can't do it right, don't do it" philosophy. Unfortunately, I rarely have time to "do it right" so, I just don't do. That is unhealthy.
**Be more intentional about showing grace and love to my spouse and son.
I can admit, many times I fall short.
**Live on a budget and envelope system.
This one is going to be a tough one for me cause I am a tool when it comes to our finances. I know we can do it though!
**Give myself some time but not too much.
I have to make some time to read, blog, etc. without feeling guilty for doing so. I also have to be careful to realize that I have work to do!
**Send thank you cards and fill out that baby book!
I make this resolu..I mean..um..goal every year and never follow through! Fingers crossed that this is the year! L is 3 and has an almost empty baby book! lol!
**Live life more intentionally.
I think this is so all encompasing, there is not much else I can say about it.
Okay, I have to go now. It's time for me to follow through with the final resolution, I mean GOAL.
**COOK DINNER AT HOME!
Love ya peeps. I raise my sparkling cider to a fabulous 2012 for us both!

Howdy stranger!
Wow. June. That was the last time I blogged. June. That's almost 7 months ago! You must have really missed me. I'm so sorry for putting you through the heartbreak of logging on again and again, only to find that I was still gone. Well, take heart my faithful companion! I have returned! I will give you a moment to compose yourself...
hhhmmm...
**twiddles thumbs**
**looks at wrist where a watch should be**
(On a tangent, I look at my left wrist. I guess because I am left handed. What wrist do you look at?)
**hums theme to Jeopardy**
Have you gathered yourself? Great.
Moving on.
I have decided to take my blog in a bit of a new direction. Not necessarily a different one just, well, enhanced.
In the past, I have pretty much stuck to sharing only about my weight loss. Honestly, that got boring for me. There are only so many times that I can blog about doing well (or more often, doing poorly and starting over) before I get a tad bored with repeating myself. Also, there have been lots of times I wanted to share a favorite craft, activity, recipe, etc. and felt restricted by my own guidelines. I didn't want to start a second blog because, well, you can see how well I have kept up with just one. So, here is my solution. I will share. Not just about my weight loss (or lack of) but also about the things in my life I love. Scripture that inspires me. Songs that make me think. Books I am reading. Crafts I am making. Hilarious things my almost 3 yr old, L, is doing. Crazy things my cats have done. Places my family goes. Well, you get the point. Welcome to my new blog and a little touch of my life. I hope you enjoy the changes to come.

I like to lose it lose it
You, my reader, are one lucky puppy tonight. You get to be inside the head of this blogger twice in one day!
"Luck be a lady tonight!"
I haven't blogged in awhile about my weight loss journey so, I thought I would fill you in. I have been doing Weight Watchers sporadically since my last post. I really wasn't having much success with it though. I was feeling kinda stuck in a rut. In the meantime my husband, or DH ( I just recently learned that is blog speak for dear husband), has been counting calories. He has been SUPER determined!
After seeing how successful Josh has been at following a routine of calorie counting, I thought I'd give it a shot. First of all, it's free. Weight Watchers is decidedly far from free! Second of all, I thought it would be nice for us to be following the same type of plan. It helps us plan meals better and just hold one another accountable.
So, I joined a site called www.loseit.com. It really is like a weight loss fb! I'm really liking the new program and I am doing pretty well with it. I weighed in yesterday and I have lost 4.8 lbs! Woohoo! DH weighed in and was down 6! I think this is going to work!
It is making such a difference to be doing this with DH. I am so encouraged by his determination and progress and it is nice to be able to keep each other on track.
I'm excited to see what our future holds as skinnier, healthier people!
By the way....my hubby is also blogging about his weight loss and other things. He is a great writer! Check him out at easiertoputon.blogspot.com. You won't be disappointed!
Until we talk again...
"Happy trails to you. Until we meet again."

loneliness
Do you ever feel alone? I do. I know there are people who love me. I know there are people who care. Sometimes though, I just feel....lonely. Like there are few people who actually WANT my company. Like I'm a backup plan when things fall through, or someone to spend time with when there is nothing else to do and no one else to be with.
"Are you lonesome tonight..."
I know it's not true. I just hate having that feeling. Please don't get me wrong. This is not jealousy. I'm honestly super happy to see those I love enjoying life with those they love. I'm just in that lonely sort of mood. Does this make me sound like a desperate weirdo? I hope not.
I'm so thankful that there is One who ALWAYS wants my company. When others fail, He will always remain. He is my rock. My fortress. My supplier. My best friend. My comforter. My provider. My love beyond all loves. My confidant. My solitude. My refuge. He's my redeemer! He is the Alpha and Omega of my life! I'm so glad Jesus desires my time all the time!

a songless songbird
I don't have any songs tonight.
Why not?
I'm tired. Plain and simple. I need to go to bed. But, coffee, a running mind, and the desire to get something posted has me here. At 2am.
I'm going to post quickly and then try to force myself to shut my brain down and sleep.
Today was weigh in day!
I was seriously not expecting much. I tried to make good choices for the most part but, this first week back was hard. I was taken out to dinner to two FABULOUS restaurants, The Melting Pot and Lottawatta Creek, (I highly recommend both!) and Ted Drewes for dessert and I ate well at each place. :o)
So, I was not anticipating facing the scale.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that I have lost 2.4 lbs the past week. Woohoo! My WW meeting was good and very inspiring too.
I am happy with the results of the week. I felt a slight twinge of guilt for losing after eating out this week when I got home and found out that hubby actually gained a little over a lb. this week. He has been so dedicated to tracking his calories and walking this week. I know he was disappointed. I also know he does not want me to feel guilty for success so, I quickly put my guilt away. He is such an encourager to me when I do well. I love that about him! I just hope to be the same for him.
Oh, and I discovered a new sweet treat that I think will work well for me. I am a serious chocoholic and sweets lover. Tonight I found that a shot glass of semi-sweet chocolate chips is just 4 pts. I can take my time with these and eat one chip at a time. By the end of the "shot" I was satisfied for my choco craving and felt like I had much more chocolate than I actually did. Yay!
Also, if you like apple pie...The new Jello temptations apple custard pie flavor is FAB! Yummy!
Okay, that's all for tonight. I seriously am about to pass out on the compuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Just kidding! Good night peeps!

If I was invisible...
Hello there blog world....
Here we are together again a mere 4 months after my last post. Yes, I said 4 months. Sheesh.
I stand before you once again admitting to falling. And this time, it has taken me awhile to get back up. Seriously, I think for the past couple months I have just thrown caution to the wind.
I did well on WW for awhile. I had lost about 15 lbs. Then I got sidetracked by something and well, it's a slow fade, as the song says. I slowly faded back into old eating habits and now I am 9 lbs more than my initial starting weight on WW.
I stopped blogging and I guess I thought if I didn't blog, it didn't matter. In my head, not blogging made me invisible and I could hide in that deniability. I could pretend that it wasn't as bad as it was because, I was not having to sit here and tell the truth to myself or anyone else. (I know there is not a lie detector attached to my blog but, I seriously don't think I could post a lie on here.) However, I started blogging to be accountable. I have to be true to that. So,
I'm back. AGAIN. I weighed in at WW on Thur. and did a complete restart. I will conquer this. It may take some battling and some ups and downs but I know I am more than a conqueror.
A big positive on this time around, my handsome hubby, is uber-motivated himself. It is really inspiring to see and I want to do well with him. I think it will make it easier to be accountable to one another with both of us doing something at the same time.
Alright, enough for now. Nice to talk to you all again!
Until next time....

Results and goals
Well, I completed week one on Weight Watchers (to be known as WW from here on).
Saturday morning, I reluctantly dragged my butt out of bed. I didn't want to go weigh in. I stayed on point all week but, I was REALLY dreading the scale. The new points system made me nervous. I ate ALOT of fruit. It felt almost like cheating to count it all at zero points! I just knew I had done something wrong so, I didn't want to see the results.
I pulled into the parking lot and got to my meeting 5 minutes late. I could deny it no longer. The moment of truth was approaching. After paying my weekly fee and getting my new inspiring paperwork, she asked me to step on the scale. Here it comes. I better take off my shoes and take my phone out of my pocket first. That way maybe it will counterbalance a few ounces. Okay, no more stalling...
I stepped on the scale and watched the numbers flip back and forth. Finally they settled. Weight loss for the week.....................
5.2 GLORIOUS POUNDS!!! What??!!! Did I seriously lose this week? Wow! This new program must have something to it.
Now, I am on day 3 of week 2. I love the flexibility of this new program and I love the free fruit because I am definitely not a big fan of most veggies. I am really excited to see my results for weigh in #2.
I know that results are not typical for 5 lbs so, I'm hoping for at least 2 lbs. We shall see. I still have 4 days ahead of me.
My goal right now is to be down 10% by our Easter production, Alive Again, at church. I am not a significant part. I am just a townsperson/chorus girl. However, I did the production last year and this year, I really want to be less of me. Being fat in front of people is hard. You really get a nasty inner monologue going as to what people must be saying about you. This year I'm aiming at being less fat in front of people. I don't want my fat to snuff out the light of Jesus shining through me as I perform. I don't want my fat to be a distraction to the importance of the message in the songs I am sharing. So, that's my goal. And I think it is achievable.

NANERNANERBOOBOO!
Hello all! Here I am almost a month later again!
The holidays were very, um, expanding for me. NOT good.
I am happy to say that, I am ....on the road again....lalalalala...on the road again....
That is, I am once again on the road to a slimmer and healthier me.
I had been doing South Beach and that was dandy but, it just felt like something was missing on that diet for me. Let's face it. I need me some pasta!
So, I decided to pursue a plan that has worked for me in the past.
I joined Weight Watchers last weekend.
I am doing this with one of my bestest friends so, that is a big bonus on it's own. It will be nice to have someone to talk to about how many points blah blah is without boring them to the point they want to shut my pie hole with my points calculator.
Except, you get to listen to it too. Why? Because you can't reach through your computer. HAHA! NANERNANERBOOBOO! ;o)
Here are the other reasons I returned to WW.
*When I'm doing WW, I feel like I HAVE to track my food. I don't feel that way about any other program. I really NEED to track my food intake so I will pay attention to what I am putting in my body.
*I will be weighing each week in front of a live person. (I hope! I would hate to think that WW uses dead people for their weigh in technicians!) I need the accountability of another set of eyes on that scale when I step on it. I need to feel embarrased if it goes up, like I'm letting them down. I don't like letting anyone down. That is a motivator for me to be better.
*I really wanted to try out the new program they have launched. It looked like something I can really stick with.
So, we shall see how this goes. I will weigh in again on Sat morning.
So far, I am doing well. My first day on, I didn't count points but I figured that I used my daily allowance plus my weekly excess allowance because we ate at CiCi's Pizza for my niece's birthday. (She is the cutest one year old princess ever by the way!) Day two, I had the flu so, my points came back to me if you know what I'm saying. If you don't, don't think about it too long. It's not pleasant. Days three and four, I have stayed within my points range. Yay! Today, I even told my hubby that I almost felt like I was eating too much. This new plan allows for most fruits to be ZERO points. It almost feels like cheating!
I'm excited for this journey and glad to be back with you all once again!

Battlefields of jelly
Hey friends! I'm alive! Just in case you were wondering...
Tonight, my dear husband gently pointed out to me that I have been neglecting the blog world since Nov.
I said, uh uh. There is no way it's been that long.
So, I looked.
It's been that long.
Drats!
Seems I haven't blogged since Nov. 15th. Over a month. Wow. Time flies when you're stuffing your face. I am sad to admit, I have fallen hard off the wagon of self control.
My last blog was really hopeful. I meant every word of it. I really did. I still do. I believe everything I said and I know that I will win this war. The battlefields lately though, have run red with my blood Well, blood red jelly and icing and stuff. I was going for a whole visual "jelly soaking the lands" thing. No? Yeah, it doesn't work. Okay, I've been losing the battle. There. Is that clearer? Sheesh. :o)
This past week, I have been back to eating a normal healthy breakfast and somewhat normal lunch and dinner. I have not, however put a limit on the endless sweets that march past my face during this season. If I'm being candid, which I feel I should, I probably won't limit it much either. I should. I just know myself and probably won't. Christmas is wonderful but, the traditions of lots of candy and cakes and cookies really suck when you are a sugar-a-holic like me!
*Steps on soapbox*
I don't really get that. Why do we encourage people to indulge in a bunch of sugary, bad for you food this time of year? Are we saying, Merry Christmas, come get fatter with me? It doesn't make any sense. For the entire month of December we are shoving cake balls and bonbons down each others throats. January rolls around and we "resolve" to lose weight and hear quiet and not so quiet insults about everyone being overweight. The rest of the year is a push to get healthy. Why? So in December we can throw it all out again and eat some more pie?
*Steps down*
Anywhodilly....
I'm like Frosty the Snowman. I'll be back again someday.
Or the Terminator. I'll be back.
Either way, you'll be hearing from me again really soon. Next time, I hope I can report that you are hearing from a little less of me.
Merry Christmas Peeps! May God richly bless you this holiday season with love beyond measure.

A flock of seagulls and a cream horn
Hey there friends, family, and everyone in between! Did you think I ran away? Gave up? Forgot that you were here waiting? I didn't forget you although, the running away part, well, we'll get to that.
This is the hard part of putting myself out there to be accountable for my actions. This is the part where it would be really easy to just stop blogging and go on my hefty way. I'm gonna be honest here. I don't want to be sitting here typing this blog. I want to ignore it until things are all hunky dorey better and I can tell you all of the great things I am accomplishing through my weight loss journey. So, for the past week and a half, I ran. I ran from being held accountable.
.....I rannnn....I ran so far away....I just raaaan...I ran all night and day....I couldn't get away....
Unfortunately, like Flock of Seagulls just told you, I couldn't get away. God laid this blog on my heart so that I would remain accountable for my actions. It's not a good idea to run from an instruction God is giving you people! So, here I am.
Let me fill you in on the past couple weeks.
About 2 weeks ago, Josh and I got some unpleasant news. I'm not going to go into any more detail than that but I will just say, it really was not good news. I have been stressed, sick, worried, upset, sad, angry, emotional at different times since then.
Now, before I go any further, I do want to take a side step and say, I have hope and know that God is working all things for good in our situation. I have faith that all will be well. God has a plan to prosper us, not harm us. However, having hope and faith doesn't mean that I am going to have a smile plastered on all the time. It means that at the end of the day, none of those emotions matter cause God's got our back and he holds our future in his hands.
Here's the kicker. I am an emotional eater. I am REALLY an emotional eater. I get too stressed and want to hide from it, I have cake. I get sad or angry, I crave sweets. I am really really working on overcoming my tendency to go to food for comfort. Unfortunately, life hit really hard and I failed miserably at it this time. For the past two weeks, I completely derailed. I have had just about all sweet things and carbs I could get my hands on. I feel miserable for it.
Since I am really trying to be transparent here, I will even share my low point. (Although it is really embarrassing and I don't want to!) There was one night this past week that I had to go grocery shopping after the monkey was in bed. I walked around in the bakery section for probably 20 min at the store. Fighting with myself in my head. It went something like this. I want that package of cream horns. No, you don't need them dummy! But, I will stop after just one. No, you don't even need one! But, I'm so stressed out and I deserve to reward myself and make myself feel better. FINE. Have it your way. You'll be sorry.
Warning sounds were going off in my head....ERRRR.....ERRRRR.....ERRRR....WARNING....BAD CHOICE APPROACHING....ERRRRR.....ERRRR......ERRRR.....I bought the dumb cream horns anyway!
.....another one bites the dust......
I took them home, sat my fluffy butt on the couch and ate one, then two, then three, then I was crying. Sobbing. Enter my sweet husband. What's wrong???? I sobbed something about being a loser with no self control. I didn't want to eat the stupid cream horns. Why couldn't I just stop myself!?! I cried for a long time that night.
I'd like to say that the next day, I got up, dusted off and jumped right back on the healthy train. I didn't. It takes awhile to get a derailed train back on the tracks. I've really been praying, reflecting since that night. I know why I didn't stop. I AM NOT A LOSER. I was just making a bad choice. A bad choice to believe the lies that Satan was placing in my head. The truth? I don't have control. But God does. And he will help me if I let him. When I try to control things on my own, even with my eating habits, I end up crying in a pile of cream horn crumbs.
So, tomorrow is a new day and I will start anew. Like I said before, I'm not giving up this time. It would be so easy to just sit stagnant in my bad choices and say, well, this is just me. I know that is not the truth. God made me to be more than a conqueror. I am going to conquer this no matter how long it takes or how many times I have to dust the crumbs off and get back up.

Life is hard, but God is good
Hey friends! I'm sorry I haven't posted in awhile. Life has hit hard in the past week and I just haven't felt like getting on here.
I'm gonna keep this post pretty short and simple. Not much singing tonight cause I am too tired! haha!
We have had some stressful events in our life this week. I am a stress eater. I am REALLY a stress eater. When I get upset or anxious, I eat. Yes, I know I shouldn't. Yes, I am trying to learn how to control it. Yes, you can not build an empire in a day. It is taking time to learn control. This week I have lost control a few times. I have not, however, given up. And I won't.
Monday was weigh in day and I did weigh in. I lost 3 more lbs!! I was astonished and very happy. It is so exciting to see the number of lbs to go diminishing on my lilyslim ticker at the top of this blog!
I'm not going to let our circumstances right now sabotage my success in this journey. This is one thing I can control and you bet your butt (or mine, haha) I'm going to do what I can to control it.
Thanks for your continued support friends and thank you for your prayers.
Life is hard sometimes, but my God, He is always good!

Booby traps
Hey all! So, I have let a week go by now without a significant post. Oops! Last week was a busy week. Last week was scattered with all kinds of food booby traps. Last week was, well, let's just say it's in the past.
Here's a brief rundown of the food minefield that I went through. Ouch! I stepped on a lot of booby traps!
Wednesday was an appreciation snack a thon for our worship pastor at choir practice. I took healthy snacks of sliced peppers and celery with hummus. I had the healthy stuff but, I also had a brownie.
Friday was our ladies prom at church. I did good and ate before I went. At prom, I made some bad choices involving cupcakes and cream puffs. Prom was so much fun!!
Girls just wanna have fun...That's all they really want...ohhhhh...
Yes, my friends N, A, and I all rocked on the karaoke and J was a great backup dancer. I definitely got a great workout at prom from all of that dancing!! After prom, I was like a high school girl looking for a prom night romance. I made REALLY bad decisions. I may or may not have gotten myself involved in a one night stand with bacon cheeseburger sliders and french fries and chocolate lava cake.
*hangs head in shame*
Saturday was my family's bonfire, chili cookoff, fall fun extravaganza. I was competing in the cookoff so, I made my chili close to the way I usually do. It is high in fat and sugar. But I know it tastes good that way and I wanted to win. I won. :o) My sweet momma got trophies and a certificate for all of the participants but, the concensus said, I win. ;o) I may have won the cookoff, but I did not win in my decisions on eating. I had chili and crackers and cupcakes.
chili and crackers and cupcakes, oh my! chili and crackers and cupcakes, oh my!
Wait, it's supposed to be lions and tigers and bears isn't it. Oh well. Chili, crackers, and cupcakes can be just as dangerous.
Sunday was no breakfast cause I slept until 11:30a. (We got home at around 2:30a) I don't remember lunch but, dinner was leftover chili.
Yesterday was weigh in day as you may have noticed. I lost 2 lbs. That's fantastic that I still lost after eating junk!! I guess a couple meals of bad choices is better than bad choices every day. I just wonder how much I would have lost had I not given in to the temptations before me.
This week starts week 3 for me and week 2 for Josh. I decided that I am going to try to stick with South Beach phase 1 for the rest of this week and maybe the next. Then I will transition to phase 2. I just don't think I am quite ready to add back any carbs, whole wheat or not, and keep my will power. I will phase them back soon. I think I may start phasing in fruit again next week.
Like I've said before, this is a journey, not a quick hike. I will keep going toward my goal despite setbacks. I'm not going to beat myself up over last week. The past is just that. It's the past. All I can do is keep moving toward a healthier future.

Is that all?
Hey friends! Just wanted to check in with you and let you know that I have not forgotten about you! I will be back tomorrow with a nice long blog to entertain and inspire the masses. :o)
I wanted to hop on here and let you know that today was weigh in day! I lost 2 lbs. Good, but not great. I'll share why tomorrow.

Geezy Doodles
Oh geezy doodles I'm tired! (I don't know why I put it that way. I think I just coined a new Brandyism.)
My weekend food choices were pretty good with a little really bad thrown in the mix. :o) Here's a quick rundown:
Thursday-
had the usual breakfast
lunch at Qdoba with the S2J girls. I did good and had a salad with black beans, salsa roja, and chicken
I don't remember dinner but I think I fixed some chicken and veggies. I know it was healthy because I would remember it if it was bad.
...I am slowly going crazy, one, two three, four, five, six, switch.....
Friday-
the usual breakfast
lunch at McDs with my baby boy. I had the Southwest Chicken salad. It has corn and tortilla strips on it (probably equivalent to 2 tortilla chips) so, slightly not SoBeach approved but still healthy and very good!
Friday night dinner is where it starts to fall apart for the weekend.
We went to our church's fall festival and they were serving fried chicken, rolls, potato salad, candy apples, and Twinkies. They also had funnel cakes for sale. I successfully avoided all but 1/4th of a twinkie. I was really drooling over the funnel cakes though! When we left, we went to a new chinese place close to church and I had Kung Pao chicken with no carrots. It was not white meat chicken but still, a better choice than fried chicken. I avoided the rice and egg rolls which is a huge accomplishment for me.
Bad food total for the weekend: 1/4 a twinkie.
Saturday-
I had the usual breakfast and then went to get some awesome deals at Baby Mania. I brought pistachios as a snack because I knew I would want one after all of that intense deal finding.
After I got home, I rushed around a bit and had to head out to a baby shower about 1 hour away. There really was nothing in the house that I could eat in a hurry and I didn't have any time so, I would just have to stop for lunch on the way. I made a good choice and avoided the drive thrus. I got a fresh salad with chicken from QT and a bag of cashews and I ate the salad piece by piece like finger food while I drove. Thankfully, I like dry salad ingredients. I went to the baby shower prepared to avoid the food and cake. I took a SF pudding with me (I did not eat it). I managed to avoid the pasta and other unapproved foods on the buffet because I was full. Thank you QT for carrying good salads. I was all geared up to avoid the cake. But they had sugar free cupcakes. Hmmm...my brain reasoned...it has flour but, it doesn't have sugar...it's not near as bad as the regular cupcakes....you can have one. Enter my well meaning mother who did not know what was going on in my head. "Sugar free is not as bad as the regular ones. I don't think it will hurt to have one of those." Yes! I'm sold! I'll have a sugar free cupcake please. Mmmm...that tasted good...oh, wait..excuse me...I need to go use that restroom. Yes, apparently my body decided to reject the cupcake. I think my body was insulted that I would have a cupcake but not give it the real thing. Yeah, that's it.
Dinner was chicken and black beans that my dear sweet hubby fixed while I had a complete bratty fit over nothing. My dear sweet hubby. Oh how I love him! I have now been visited by the lady fairy and am craving pizza.
.....Crazy going slowly am I, six, five, four, three, two, one, switch...
I give in to temptation and eat one of the cupcakes I brought home for Josh and Levi. It really was too sweet after two bites and made me wanna barf. :o(
Bad food count for the weekend: 1/4 twinkie, SF cupcake, regular cupcake.
Sunday-
I overslept and didn't have time for breakfast. This is the first day I have missed breakfast.
So hungry...drank some coffee and chewed gum to tamp down cravings. Thankfully, I sat in first service so, I had no excuse to go to the breakfast room after choir.
Lunch- I picked up lunch for us on the way home from church because we were in a hurry. I had a Southwest Chicken Salad from McDs and a cup of chili from Steak n Shake. Normally, it would have just been the salad but, I was really hungry since I missed breakfast.
Dinner-We were going to go to O'Charley's in Fenton but, we got some horrible service and that didn't work out. Ended up at Qdoba. I'm weak. I could not stomach one more salad!! I had the queso burrito. Yes, it had queso cheese, white rice, and a flour tortilla. It was tasty too. Oh lady fairy, why do you have to jack around with my appetite?!! After my carb a thon at Qdoba I was having mad cravings for ice cream. I came home and had SF pudding with peanuts. Before bed, I found a chocolate bar from the baby shower in my purse (I don't know why I even brought it home!). I ate it. ....bad to the bone...bbbbbbad...bbbbbad..
Bad food count for the weekend: 1/4 a twinkie, SF cupcake, regular cupcake, queso burrito, chocolate bar.
Thankfully, today is a whole new day!
.....This is a new day, and I have a new life. I'm walking in freedom, from the inside. It's my beginning, a brand new way of living. I'm heading the right way. Because of You I say, this is a new day....
Today was WEIGH IN DAY!! I got on the scale this morning and....drum roll please....I lost 6 lbs!!!! Yay!! Maybe I can do this thing! :o) Despite a few bad choices last week, I feel like I did well overall. The amount of bad stuff I ate for the whole week, before I would sometimes eat in just one day.
Today's choices were good ones.
Breakfast was the usual
Lunch was some yummy lentil soup by Progresso
snacks were pistachios and peanut butter
Dinner- I made Thai spiced pork tenderloin and baked eggplant, asparagus, and bell peppers. It was yummy and I discovered that I like asparagus. Eggplant is still gross.
Dessert- SF choc. pudding and peanuts.
Oh, one more thing before I go. My handsome hubby has decided he wants to do South Beach with me. He started his phase one today.
Now, I'm so tired, I'm about to passsssssssssssssssssssssss....sorry, dozed off...about to pass out. Good night and veggie dreams to you all.
